The NGO “Society For Integrated Rural Development” in brief SFIRD, was strengthened since the year 2001. The original inspiration was derived from SFIRD’s Mother NGO Village Reconstruction Organization’s ideology “Love thy neighbor as thyself and the Sarvodaya Moment” imbibed by VRO’s Founder Director Prof. Fr. M.A. Windey, a Belgian Jesuit.

SFIRD was selected by the District Authorities to conduct House-hold survey in 72 habitations of the coastal revenue sub-divisions namely Nizampatnam to implement Convergent Community Action (CCA) Strategy of UNICEF with the program entitled “Reaching the Un-reached” – among the Traditional Marine Fisher-folk, Tribes and Dalits.

SFIRD is working for the development of Dalits (ex-untouchables), Tribes, Fisher-folk (traditional marine and inland fisher-folk), Minorities, Economically Backward Classes in the Coastal region of the Bay of Bengal, South India.

SFIRD is working in 60 identified micro villages in Nizampatnam, Repalle, Nagaram, Karlapalem and Bapatla Revenue Sub-Divisions of Coastal region in Guntur District and a few pockets in Prakasam and Krishna Districts of Andhra Pradesh, South India. And in a few Urban Slums in Guntur Municipal Corporation and Bapatla & Repalle Municipalities.
The Executive Committee of SFIRD:
The Committee comprises of 7 members from different fields of development and are basically from down-trodden sections. The Chief functionary (Secretary of the Executive Committee) is a Post Graduate in Social Work (MSW) from the TATA Institute of Social Sciences and is involved in the field of development over the past 25 years. He underwent training programs within the Country and at different places in Europe on various development issues. Like wise, other Executive Committee members also possess vast and rich experience in development sector.

Lead Agency at the District level to work with migration and child labor issues through Aide-et-Action (AeA), an internal organization based in Switzerland working in South Asia with their Chennai and Hyderabad based regional offices.
